Microsoft's Exchange Server 2007, a very powerful application, functions to provide mobile and email access to information and data storage devices by setting up a server. The whole procedure involved in configuring Exchange 2007 is quite an exhaustive one. Therefore, before you start the installation, make certain that your organization and the system meet all the requirements that are essential to run the application successfully.

Also, note that to set up Exchange 2007, you need not have an in-depth technical knowledge of the server systems. As you initiate the installation process, the Exchange Server 2007 Wizard application will simply walk you through the entire Exchange 2007 setup. All you need to do is follow the nine simple steps given below with utmost care -

Step 1: Take the Exchange Server 2007 installation disc and insert it into the server's optical drive. Once the disc is inserted, the 'setup.exe' program gets launched. Follow the onscreen guidelines and instructions presented to you for steps 1, 2, and 3 of the Wizard application.

Step 2: Next, select 'Step 4: Install Microsoft Exchange' from the options given in the menu presented to you on the introduction screen; Then, click 'Next'.

Step 3: You will now see a 'License Agreement' window. Select the option that says 'I accept the terms in the license agreement' and click 'Next'. Now, make an appropriate selection in the customer feedback window and press 'Next' once again.

Step 4: In the 'Installation Type' screen that follows, choose the option 'Typical Exchange Server Installation'. If you want to install the application in default location, hit 'Enter'. If not, click on 'Browse' to select a custom location to set up Exchange 2007.

Step 5: If the server, on which you are installing Exchange 2007, already has the Exchange Server 2000/2003 infrastructure, you must select a suitable bridgehead server in this step. Note that this bridgehead server must be a member of the routing group of the previous Exchange Server organization.

Step 6: In the 'Exchange Organization' screen that appears next, enter a suitable organization name. The name that you choose must not exceed 64 characters and also, it should not consist of any special character.

Step 7: On the 'Client Settings' page, choose the option which describes all your network's client computers that are currently using Microsoft Outlook.

Step 8: Next, make certain that all the qualification tests, listed in the 'Readiness Checks' Screen, are passed by your system. Once the system has passed all these tests, hit the 'Install' button to initiate the installation of Exchange Server 2007.
